To add to the response above: Can prayer or inner effort change our fate or destiny?
Here is a ray of hope. There is always a chance of receiving the grace of God. The grace of God can surely change destiny, fate, and in some cases even completely take away a painful situation. And the grace of God can be received by sincere prayer especially when done at powerful sacred places, intense inner effort and charitable deeds— if done regularly. Just as when your account goes into red with a minus debit balance, you add funds which then credit your account. In the same way, good deeds done will add to good karma credit which will offset previous karmic debt. They will hasten in changing or even removing the pains of life with the grace of God.
