Mystic Mother
MiraSai Maa

Early Life & Education:

Mira Sai Maa, born Arti Gupta in 1951 in Delhi, India, is a spiritual guide, humanitarian, author, and founder of the Sai Global Foundation/Kalpataru Sai Sanctuary – Sai Kripa in San Jose, California. Maa or Amma, as she is fondly known, was raised in a distinguished family that included the Raj-Diwan (Prime Minister) of Alwar, Rajasthan, who was her great-grandfather. Educated at an elite Roman Catholic school and later majoring in Philosophy, she also pursued art during school holidays. By age 12, she was traveling across India, Nepal, and Colombo with adult art students—allowing experiences that fostered her independence and supreme confidence.
Her spiritual inclination emerged early at age 12, often spending time in prayer at her boarding school chapel, asking God to call her to Him. As a teenager, her deep compassion surfaced as she would save her entire pocket money to help the poor and very often bringing underprivileged children home to feed and clothe them—sometimes against her parents’ wishes. She also loved bhajans (devotional songs), frequently inviting street mendicants home and recording their music.
Divine Visitations: At 17, in 1968, she experienced a physical visitation from Sri Shirdi Sai Baba—who had taken samadhi in 1918—and seven more times thereafter. At 21, Sri Sathya Sai Baba appeared to her in a dream, calling her to his ashram in Puttaparthi. This marked the start of her conscious spiritual journey.
Worldly Life Experience: In her early 20s, a holiday to the U.S. led to a successful fashion import/export business in New York City, making her a CEO at age 23. In the 1980s, she transitioned into a very successful financial advising practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. Highly regarded by the Indian community and her clients, a familiar face in the media, she also became VP of Shri Sunil Dutt’s Nargis Dutt Cancer Foundation Chapter, supplying medical equipment for cancer patients in India. Additionally, she served on the Board of Directors at the Fremont Hindu Temple and was quite involved in various seva projects with the Sathya Sai Organization of Northern America.

Rebirth & Life Purpose:
In 1994, a life-altering near-death experience took her beyond death, where she experienced oneness with Supreme Consciousness and direct awareness of Divine Truth. Her soul underwent a complete metamorphosis—a profound transmutational rebirth by divine alchemy on the "Other Side," where she was told "She has to go back to 'do the work'."

Rebirthed anew, she returned—after "bathing" in Supreme (God) Consciousness. Detached from the material world, her yearning for that same constant divine oneness, led her to leave worldly life and spend five years at Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s ashram in Puttaparthi, India. Here she immersed herself in deep spiritual practices; including 40-day fasts on just coconut water, living in blissful union with the Divine in para bhakti. Mira Sai Maa always felt she was betrothed to God and never got married.

During this time, Sai Baba Himself, physically, gave her the name "Mira Sai" in an interview. Her life stands as a testament to His supreme divinity, with his miracles and love shaping the tapestry of her extraordinary journey.

Spiritual Life Work Begins:
Returning to California in 2001, her profound "soul" purpose, for which she was sent back from the "other side" prompted her to found the Sai Global Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This led to her establishing the Kalpataru Sai Sanctuary – Sai Kripa, in San Jose first in 2007 and in 2023. The sanctuary offers prayer gatherings, meditation, yoga, food and clothing distribution for the needy and special spiritual counseling by Maa. She is also an ordained minister in the Ecumenical Order.

Humanitarian Works:
Her humanitarian projects include building an industrial drinking water plant for villagers in Puttaparthi, where almost 2500 people can quench their thirst daily, a borewell for an orphanage, and providing drinking water to 4 nearby schools. Wheelchairs for the handicapped, nutrition for pregnant mothers, feeding the poor and other humanitarian services, such as counseling many people and helping them live more empowered and meaningful lives. She also constructed a world-class recording studio at Sai Baba’s ashram. Currently she has founded and runs a spiritual sanctuary in San Jose, Ca, Kalpataru Sai Sanctuary-Sai Kripa, in her Guru Sai Baba's name.

In addition to her spiritual and humanitarian work, she is an author and speaker. Her book Enstasy: Standing Inside Oneself, explores consciousness and self-realization through poetry. She has produced sacred audio recordings of scriptural texts and devotional music and is currently completing her autobiography.

Pilgrimages: Mira Sai Maa has traveled widely to sacred sites worldwide—including Kailash Manasarovar twice in the Himalayas at 20,000ft, Mt. Shasta, Mosques, Churches, and lived at Buddhist monasteries in Thailand. She has meditated in caves and freezing rivers in the Himalayas with ascetics, delving into her spiritual practices and entering altered states of consciousness.
Spiritual Guidance: Today, she remains lovingly dedicated to uplifting others through unconditional love, spiritual guidance, meditation, and service. Her purpose is to empower each individual to align with their higher purpose, to awaken the awareness of divine love within, to experience inner bliss and the Ananda that comes from it. To realize, that they themselves hold the power to create their destiny and discover the ultimate truth of their reality and life.
